Is your child difficult to understand? Our Speech Therapists are trained to recognize and treat a variety of speech sound disorders. Through a child-led, neurodiversity-affirming lens, we use evidenced based practices to support each child in a way that works for them.
Does your child have a hard time getting out their thoughts in a fluent, cohesive manner? We can help! By using evidence based fluency strategies, we can work with you and your child to determine what types of supports are needed to get them speaking fluently and confidently.
Unlike articulation and phonological disorders, Apraxia is a movement disorder, which requires specific strategies to teach your child how to move their articulators in order to produce a specific sound, word, phrase. Our SLP's use Principles of Motor Learning to guide therapy for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech / Suspected Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
Does your child seem to speak in scripts from their favorite movies, shows, and songs? This is a perfectly valid style of learning how to speak, called Gestalt Language Processing. Our SLP's are trained in the identification and “treatment” for GLPs, and can help guide you and your child toward Natural, Self Generated Language.
Are meals your hardest time of the day? Does your child only eat a handful of foods? Are they struggling to gain weight? Our SLPs and OTs can help you determine the cause(s) of your child’s picky eating, and make a plan to help. Some causes for feeding disorders in children can be: oral dysfunction, tongue and lip ties, sensory aversions, motor planning difficulties, poor core strength, stomach and GI pain, and more.
You’re in luck - Children Matter specializes in AAC!

Developing strength and coordination through eating is proven to be crucial for our speech skills. Our SLPs are trained in specialized oral motor intervention protocols to improve range of motion in the lips, jaw, tongue, and soft palate. All which directly impact our ability to eat safely (and speak!) Additionally, the regulation it takes for a picky eater to try new food, or the physical challenges that messy eaters face, can both be targeted through Occupational Therapy to make mealtimes easier.
