— Considerations for Therapy —

Children Matter is committed to seeing that children of any age get the assistance they need in order to develop and thrive! We provide therapeutic services for children ranging in age from newborn to 21 years. We believe an evaluation may be beneficial if you experience these:

Infants and Toddlers

Premature birth
Feeding and swallowing difficulties
Difficulty latching following birth
Reflux
Favors turning head or body to one side
Late with rolling, crawling or sitting up
Difficulty transitioning in out of positions (sitting to pulling to stand to crawling)
Quiet baby
Lack of babbling
Lack of eye contact
Hard time with imitating speech and motor movements
Not walking or talking by 15 months
Difficulty playing appropriately with toys
Not moving limbs or head bilaterally
Having trouble holding bottles or toys with both hands
Difficulty following people or objects with their eyes
Difficulty with sleeping
Difficulty with self-soothing

Pre & School-Aged Children

Difficulty sitting in chairs
Has trouble following basic directions and answering questions appropriately
Cannot tell a story with appropriate sequence
Handwriting not legible by 3rd Grade
All speech sounds not clear by age 8
Difficulty drinking from an open cup or straw
Having extreme difficulty with separation
Trouble with sleeping and naptime
Difficulty with transitions
Frequent meltdowns
Inability to express wants and needs
Trouble walking or balancing
Having trouble with puzzles and shape sorters
Unable to play with peers of the same age
Unable to self soothe and regulate emotional states independently
Unable to smoothly move from carpet to hard floors or grass
Sensitive to clothing and textures
Limited food variety
Toy, item or topic fixations
Difficulty taking turns in play and conversation
Difficulty dressing and undressing
Difficulty maintaining attention in class
Difficulty with safety awareness
Difficulty with care activities (eating, dressing, bathing, shoe tying)
Inability to produce all sounds of speech

Adolescents

Difficulty understanding facial expressions, social cues, body language, and verbal cues

Unable to problem solve daily activities
Unable to dress and undress on their own
